This short research paper is an opportunity to look at an issue that has drawn your attention at any point during your education in law, and to write it in a manner that is suitable for a career which may be of interest to you. Thus, while it has a flexible format (Letter of Advice, Memorandum of Law, Policy Analysis, Position Paper), it must demonstrate significant research (no less than 10 references). Imagine your 'dream' job and decide on the most appropriate format for your paper.
Pay attention to the marking rubric.
• Due Date:
End of week 12 (Sunday midnight)
• Weighting Percentage: 50%
Word limit: 2500 words (footnotes are not included in the wordcount)
Work undertaken for the preparation of your research paper - such as research, drafting and getting feedback can be documented and used in preparing your Professional Portfolio (item 1). This is a suggestion only and does not mean that you have to do so. You may choose to submit a research paper based on what you have done professionally or anticipate that you will be doing.
You will devise your own research paper, you may wish to consult the unit convenor to settle on an appropriate topic.
DO NOT submit an assessment item you have submitted previously during the course of your studies as this would be considered self plagiarism.
Your research paper must be new and original for this unit.
Please note that no bibliography is needed (footnotes are considered sufficient).
